Matt Stark
BSU Director
Matt Stark is an alumnus of Itawamba Community College with an Associate of Arts degree, went on to earn both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Music Education from the University of Mississippi. After a short career in teaching, Matt felt the call to full-time ministry and enrolled in New Orleans Theological Seminary and earned a Master’s of Divinity Degree. Matt has dedicated over 20 years to ministry, serving in various roles in kids, student, and collegiate ministries.
God led the Stark family to serve as missionaries in Bristol, England. Matt, his wife Melanie, his son Riley, and his daughter Anna Brooke moved overseas to serve and love the communities of Brentry and Sea Mills in Bristol, England. They were involved in youth work and church planting during their time overseas. When Matt returned to the states, he returned to First Baptist Church Amory, MS to serve as their missions and discipleship pastor for 3 years before God led him to BSU work.
Now, as the Campus Minister for the Baptist Student Union (BSU) at Itawamba Community College, Matt seeks to follow the vision for Mississippi BSU which is to know Christ and make Him known. They lead students in worship, family Bible study groups, and gospel-centered conversations, aiming to strengthen students' faith through discipleship and to be an extension of the local church ministry.
